Zwei praktische Probleme tauchen beim Aufbau eines Smart Home<\/a> auf \u2013 oder wenn auch nur ein weiterer Sensor oder Schalter integriert werden soll: Bleibt das Funksignal \u00fcber die Entfernung stabil? Und: Verstehen sich die einzelnen Komponenten \u00fcberhaupt untereinander? Da k\u00f6nnen die einzelnen Bausteine ihre Aufgaben noch so gut erf\u00fcllen, ohne einen gemeinsamen Funkstandard vernetzt sich da gar nichts. (Komplett verkabelte Eigenheime lassen wir hier au\u00dfen vor. Durch den hohen Aufwand d\u00fcrften sie die Ausnahme bleiben.)<\/p>\n

WLAN zu energiehungrig<\/h2>\n

Warum also keines der etablierten Funkprotokolle wie WLAN oder Bluetooth nehmen? Jeder hat bereits solche Verbindungen aufgebaut und wei\u00df daher auch, dass diese Probleme mit sich bringen \u2013 vor allem im Betrieb, wenn die Verbindungen nicht stabil sind und sogar aussetzen, wenn die Mikrowelle l\u00e4uft oder geduscht wird. Aus diesem Grund weichen die Smart-Home-Ausr\u00fcster bei der Heimautomation auf andere Funkprotokolle aus. Auf einen gemeinsamen Standard konnten sie sich allerdings noch nicht einigen. Sogar WLAN und Bluetooth werden eingesetzt.<\/p>\n

Wo ein Smart Home aufgebaut werden soll, ist in der Regel bereits ein WLAN-Netz vorhanden. Der Datendurchsatz ist hoch, die Verbindungen sind verschl\u00fcsselt. Von au\u00dfen in ein solches Netz einzugreifen und die Alarmanlage au\u00dfer Betrieb zu setzen, w\u00e4re gar nicht so einfach. Der Preis f\u00fcr ein Smart Home auf WLAN-Basis w\u00e4re jedoch ein hoher Energieverbrauch. WLAN-Ger\u00e4te sind auf eine Steckdose angewiesen. Niemand m\u00f6chte alle paar Tage die Batterien in s\u00e4mtlichen Rauchmeldern auswechseln, schon gar nicht in einem Altbau mit hohen Decken. Auch eine Lampe intelligent zu steuern, w\u00fcrde keine oder nicht viel Energie sparen, wenn der WLAN-Schalter in der Steckdose selbst viel Energie verbraucht.<\/p>\n

Bluetooth zu kurzsichtig<\/h2>\n

Zudem ist die Reichweite in WLAN-Netzen nicht immer ausreichend. Wenn schon auf dem Sofa der Laptop Probleme hat, die Verbindung zu halten, wie soll das s\u00e4mtlichen Sensoren und Schaltern gelingen, die oft in den Ecken sitzen? Das liegt an der relativ hohen Frequenz von 2,4 GHz, die gut von Wasser und Metall abgeschirmt wird \u2013 und was sich sonst noch so in den W\u00e4nden befindet. Doch Sensoren sollten nicht den Kontakt zur Smart-Home-Zentrale verlieren, wenn sie Alarm schlagen. WLAN eignet sich deshalb nur als zus\u00e4tzlicher Datenkanal, wenn gro\u00dfe Datenmengen \u00fcbertragen werden sollen wie bei einem Videofeed. In Zukunft soll auch WLAN energiesparsamer werden und sich dann f\u00fcr die Vernetzung im Smart Home besser eignen. Grundlage ist der Standard IEEE 802.11 ah, auf dem unter anderem WiFi HaLow<\/a> aufsetzt.<\/p>\n

Auch Bluetooth ist keine Funktechnik, die f\u00fcr das Smart Home geschaffen wurde. Die Reichweite betr\u00e4gt bei freier Sicht bis zu 10 Meter. Wenn das Signal dann noch durch W\u00e4nde muss, reduziert sich die Distanz weiter. Mit den aktuellen Standards Bluetooth Low Energy und Bluetooth Smart wurde immerhin der Energiebedarf reduziert, so dass Sensoren im Smart Home auch \u00fcber Monate mit nur einer Batterie betrieben werden k\u00f6nnten. Durch die vielen unterschiedlichen Bluetooth-Versionen ist jedoch die Kompatibilit\u00e4t nicht immer gew\u00e4hrleistet. Android-Smartphones m\u00fcssen Bluetooth 4.3 unterst\u00fctzen, um direkt mit den Smart-Home-Ger\u00e4ten kommunizieren zu k\u00f6nnen. Bluetooth 5 hat zudem eine h\u00f6here Reichweite im Energiesparmodus gebracht. Jetzt m\u00fcssen es die Hardware-Entwickler nur noch einsetzen.<\/p>\n

Alternative Funkstandards verwenden nur selten das Frequenzband um 2,4 GHz, in dem WLAN und Bluetooth funken, sondern beorzugt die B\u00e4nder um 433 MHz und 868 MHz. Zudem senden sie weniger Daten, was allerdings auf Kosten der Sicherheit gehen kann. Teilweise sind sie unverschl\u00fcsselt, teils setzen sie auf eine einfache Authentifizierung (Wer bist du?) oder Authorisierung (Darfst du meine Daten haben?). Es gibt aber auch Daten im Smart Home, die nur komplett verschl\u00fcsselt \u00fcbertragen werden sollten. Unterschiedliche Hersteller und Systeme setzen hierbei auf unterschiedliche Funkstandards.
