Da gab es noch \u00e4hnliche Grabenk\u00e4mpfe unter den Anh\u00e4ngern von Desktop-Betriebssystemen. Windows oder Mac? Oder auch, f\u00fcr die eher technisch Bewanderten: Windows oder Linux? Das quelloffene, alternative Betriebssystem Linux soll einst das gewesen sein, was den Microsoft-Gr\u00fcnder Bill Gates auf dem Weg zum alleinbeherrschenden Windows-Markt nachts nicht ruhig schlafen lie\u00df.<\/p>\n<h2>Microsofts &#8222;Liebe&#8220; zu quelloffener Software begann schon vor Jahren<\/h2>\n<p>Unter Gates&#8216; Nachfolgern Steve Ballmer und zuletzt Satya Nadella erfolgte bei Microsoft schlie\u00dflich ein Umdenken. Linux wurde nicht mehr verteufelt und bek\u00e4mpft, sondern begr\u00fc\u00dft. Es folgten gar Kooperationen und ein Austausch. Ich kann mich auch noch an einen Valentinstags-Comic vor ein paar Jahren erinnern, in dem <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basicthinking.de\/blog\/2012\/02\/14\/microsoft-proklamiert-offenheit-am-valentinstag-auch-nerds-brauchen-liebe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Microsoft seine &#8222;Liebe&#8220; zu quelloffener Software unterstreicht<\/a>. Und so verwundert es eigentlich nicht mehr so sehr, dass man Ubuntu-Linux ab dem heutigen Tage <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2017\/7\/10\/15949096\/ubuntu-windows-10-store-linux-distro-sandbox-available-now\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">im Microsoft-Store herunterladen<\/a> kann.<\/p>\n<p>Mehr noch: Man kann Ubuntu auf einem Windows-10-Rechner installieren und ausf\u00fchren. Ein ganzes Betriebssystem also in einem anderen laufen lassen. Ubuntu l\u00e4uft dann in einer Sandbox. Das ist zwar im Jahre 2017 auch l\u00e4ngst keine Hexerei mehr. M\u00f6glich ist das bereits seit vielen, vielen Jahren \u00fcber virtuelle Maschinen. Aber anders, neu und durchaus bemerkenswert ist, dass das Ganze jetzt offiziellen Charakter hat. Von Microsoft abgesegnet und sogar begr\u00fc\u00dft.<\/p>\n<h2>Und wo ist das Problem?<\/h2>\n<p>Der Vollst\u00e4ndigkeit halber erw\u00e4hnen sollte man dabei zum einen, dass Ubuntu f\u00fcr Windows auf das Terminal und die Kommando-Zeile beschr\u00e4nkt ist. Eine grafische Benutzeroberfl\u00e4che fehlt. Und, zum anderen, dass Ubuntu nicht die einzige Linux-Distribution bleiben soll, die auf diese Art und Weise unter Windows l\u00e4uft. Als n\u00e4chstes sollen Suse und Fedora kommen.<\/p>\n<p>Aber trotzdem: Das h\u00e4tte es unter einem Bill Gates in den 90ern auf dem Weg zur Windows-Alleinherrschaft nicht gegeben. Und jetzt, im Nachhinein, fragt man sich als Nutzer, ob man all diese Grabenk\u00e4mpfe um &#8222;das richtige&#8220; Betriebssystem nicht umsonst ausgefochten hat. Wenn es da doch viele Gemeinsamkeiten gibt und ein Miteinander statt Gegeneinander alle Seiten weiterbringt. Als n\u00e4chstes kommt dann wom\u00f6glich noch macOS in den Microsoft-Store und die Aufregung w\u00fcrde sich sogar dabei wahrscheinlich in Grenzen halten.
